St. Charles Old Boys Association

We strive to provide the highest quality education, .and promote good relations between the association and similar associations elsewhere.

Our Story

Introduction

Various attempts to organize Old Boys of St Charles Minor Seminary Senior High School (Tamale) were made in several forms by many in the past. Countless of the efforts were undocumented. However, by the turn of the 20th Century, the attempts began crystalizing in Tamale and Accra. Both Religious and Lay past students were involved in the endeavours.

Our Mission

To promote the St Charles family spirit among alumni and advance the interest and reputation of St Charles Minor Seminary as a school of excellence in Ghana.

We will achieve this by establishing a medium to serve the institution through collaboration with Alumni, Staff, Parents and Students, inspiring the school to excel in learning and living in the Catholic faith.

Our Aims and Goals

Mission

The first constitution of the Accra Branch stated among other things that the purpose of the Association was to “concern itself with all matters affecting past students”. The welfare of its members, and the enhanced “development of the Alma-mater” were also important to the founding members.

In the light of that, the Association’s efforts have been dedicated towards the development and growth of the School, concentrating endeavours on both physical infrastructure and academics. Resources for the actualisation of SCOBA Projects have come mainly from contributions of Caroleans themselves and corporates who are sympathetic to the needs of the school. The efforts of key personalities in lobbying government and corporates have been and continue to be vital.

Another key outcome of the General Meeting at the 60th Anniversary was the institution of Special Projects to be undertaken by Year Groups (or a combination of groups) on the 20th Anniversary of their leaving St Charles.

The welfare of members has also been very keen for the Association. Support in times of bereavement, sickness, and general needs sometimes financial have been accorded members.
